Aims of the declaration:
1. Conservation of unique ancient forest of Pinus nigra, with participation of Quercus dalechampii, Quercus cerris, Carpinus betulus, Ulmus glabra, Fagus sylvatica and others. and group structure, and to restore the oldest protected area declared in Bulgaria, at the initiative of foresters in the region of Smolyan.

Current prohibitions and regimes:
1. It is prohibited conduct of clear felling and cutting of old and hollow trees;
2. It is prohibited afforestation with plant species uncharacteristic of the region;
3. It is prohibited to settle in nonresidential for the region animal species;
4. It is prohibited grazing of domestic goats;
5. It is prohibited bivouacing of people and domestic animals;
6. It is prohibited to search for, research, and extract minerals;
7. It is prohibited the construction of: new surfaced roads, buildings and facilities except for visitor centers, trails and associated infrastructure;
8. It is prohibited fire making outside the defined places;
9. It is prohibited the use of indiscriminate means of pest control in forests.
12. It is prohibited planting invasive alien species.
