Aims of the declaration:
1. Protection of natural habitats of conservation value - inner Tundzha and Maritza dense forests and poplar mixed forest by the rivers;
2. Protection of protected animal species, such as: Great crested newt (Triturus cristatus), common pond turtle (European Pond Turtle), Caspian pond turtle (Mauremys caspica), pygmy cormorant (Haliaetor pygmaeus), night heron (Nycticorax nyctic)
3. Conservation of representative ecosystems and communities of the island in the Maritsa River valley;
Current prohibitions and regimes:
1. It is prohibited to change the way of sustainable use of the land;
2. It is prohibited to search for, research, and extract minerals.
3. It is prohibited construction, except of hydroengeneer installations, related with drainage of parts from the island, with purpose to maintenance the overflowed forests and activities for reconstruction of cable bridges;
4. It is prohibited felling, except sanitary and related with removing of nonresidential tree and shrubby species;;
5. It is prohibited extraction of inert materials;
6. It is prohibited to make fire;
7. It is prohibited to dig and plow the land at the territory of the island;
8. It is prohibited pollution with industrial and domestic waste;
9. It is prohibited afforestation with unlocal plant species;
